Don`t Forget to Winter Water Your Plants and Sod!

With temperatures in Denver well above seasonal norms this means our plants won’t be fully dormant. Without supplemental water during the cold months, root systems can be damaged, possibly leading to plant illness or death.

Watering plants, sod and trees at least one to two times per month can help keep your landscape happy and healthy. The best time to Water is around mid-day before possible freezing in the evening.

Don’t forget to disconnect the hose to prevent freezing damage.

Raised Strip Stone Annual Planter & Water Feature

Raised planters are a perfect addition to any landscape, they add vertical interest, help define the space and can even act as extra seating. The raised planter in this central Denver landscape was constructed using Arizona Buff strip stone with thick capstone on top. We also placed a Camapnia Girona water feature that is simple yet elegant visualy, it also adds the soothing ambiance of trickling water to the space. We then topped it all of by adding in a mix of annuals surrounding the water feature, some LED lighting and whala a beautiful raised planter for your enjoyment.

Lush Dimenional Stepper Pathway

Pathways help create interest in the landscape as well as creating physical links between one part of the landscape to the other. The pathway in this Denver landscape was made using dimensional flagstone steppers that create a sinuous passageway through the lush plantings and into the yard beyond. The custom iron pergola with entry gate makes the path through this side yard inviting and the Hydrangea tree acts as a focal point that draws you into the space. The lush plantings of Hosta, Cranesbill and Iris give the path visual texture and the LED lighting adds a subtle glow not only to the path but to landscape as well.

Contemporary Courtyard in Denver

This contemporary court yard located in Denver Colorado is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy your favorite book or to entertain friends around the cast stone fire pit. The paver patio adds interest to the area with a blend of colors and the strip stone walls that make up the raised planter can also be used for extra seating. The hand carved Travertine water feature not only looks unique but also adds a nice sense of tranquility with the sound of the water splashing off the rocks below. We added in some low voltage LED lighting so you can enjoy the space not only during the day but at night as well.

This modern delight located in Denver is a quaint and cozy courtyard that provides a wonderful space to sit and contemplate or have a nice glass of wine with a friend. Colorado Garden and Home Show 2014

The Colorado Garden and Home Show is getting ready to kick off this weekend at the Colorado Convention Center February 15^th – 23^rd. Stop by Mile High Landscaping and Creative Living’s booth where we will be showcasing our fire features, water features, custom benches, plate art and pots.
