This masterpiece of a water fountain was custom made for our client. The back of the house faces a busy street and we wanted to do something special to screen out the traffic and create some privacy for our clients to relax and enjoy their outdoor living space. The rustic and elegant design for the wall thought to create a private nook with small arched windows to let light into the space and create interest beyond the wall. A simple but elegant fountain has water falling out of a copper pipe into a basin that cascades down into a larger fluted basin where water trickles out to a patio level pool. The water falling creates an orchestra of relaxing bubbling sound. The browns and tans of the background tile contrast in color and texture with the strong balance of the stucco wall. As mists of water coats the flagstone patio, a shiny sheen appears and gives the flagstone a golden color. Glazed ceramic garden pots from Creative Living give life to plants and add smooth shapes to the corner making for a balanced view.

A modern slick finish concrete patio with two levels helps to create a separate area and contrast in this small Denver yard. An ultra-modern gas fire pit, from Creative Living, colored in powder coated fire-engine red really makes this space “pop” with contrasting colors and rectangular shapes. While enjoying the warmth of the fire feature as you gaze out into the yard we wanted to break-up the existing wood privacy fence with unique steel art trellis designs, also powder coated in the same color as the fire feature to tie in the two elements to create balance. The LED up-lights add textures and shadows from the custom steel trellis against the wood fence at night to make the art screen create this soft hue to the rear of the property. The planting beds further add contrast and texture to the landscape through the use of multicolored smooth textured river cobble laid throughout the mulch areas. Privacy, warmth, color, and textures all brought together to form this superb landscape design/build by Mile High Landscaping.

Warm up by a custom fire feature while listening to the soothing sound of a custom water feature. This patio space was designed and built by Mile High Landscaping and installed this past season. A custom fire feature like this one will help extend the outdoor season into these cooler months by providing warmth and light for your guests to sit around and tell stories about their latest adventures. The patio area sits next to an ultra modern water feature that has a large pour-over into a lower pool, the soothing sound provided by the custom water feature adds to the ambiance of the space and the LED lighting makes the moving water glisten through the evening. Mexican beach pebbles accent the transition from patio to water feature and add a nice color to the modern patio. The outdoor furniture is comfortable and you can find similar sets at Creative Living.

The transition from garden and lawn area to the flagstone patio was made using flagstone steppers. The warmth of the fire invites you in around the stone fire pit and seat wall to make a cozy entertaining area in this outdoor space. Evergreens trees and a wood trellis add privacy and help cut down the wind and drone out neighboring noises during a relaxing evening by the fire pit. Landscape lighting adds ambiance and warmth to the wooden trellis. The large boulders help to anchor the patio area and give it a natural mountain feel.

The transition from lower flagstone patio to the upper garden was made using these native sandstone slab stairs set into the existing hillside. The flagstone stairs were designed to curve through this natural setting so you can enjoy the blooming flowers and lush green trees lining the stairs to the top. The large boulders are the same stones as the steps but with more natural hues of brown, greys, and gold. Not only were the stones placed for color accents but they also serve a purpose of retaining the hillside and slowing down the pathway so you can stop and sit and enjoy the garden around it. We wanted to be able to use the flagstone path in the evening and installed LED lights that line the stairs for safe walking at night after a family gathering by the outdoor fire pit. Sturdy and reliable these stairs will last a very long time.

Bring the indoors out with this unique Castle Pines outdoor living space. Mile High Landscaping created this outdoor living space from the deck to the roof above. With easy access from the home out to the grilling area which transitions into a seating area with a wood burning fire place and outdoor television to catch the game while entertaining your friends and family. On movie night, the custom outdoor curtains can be drawn to block out exterior lights while eating popcorn and watching a family favorite movie. To extend the outdoor season we installed a heater above to take the chill away when those cooler temperatures arrive in Castle Pines. The outdoor custom built fire place is the focal point and built using a rustic wood mantle balanced above the stucco and stone veneer fascia. The cantilevered roof was engineered and then installed by the Mile High Landscaping experts and has a beautiful cedar wood grain board that adds warmth to the space.

The grill station, in this custom project, was one of several features incorporated into the outdoor entertainment area. The stainless steel grill is set on a custom granite counter top. The rustic look of the granite top compliment the tans, greys, and browns in the adjacent stone pillar while the cool tan color of the stucco balance the heavy granite counter top. Simply a great place to eat grill-to-plate while enjoying the outdoors in this private outdoor living space.

The openness of this yard has great views of the golf course. It was lacking a place to take advantage of the view and large yard. Mile High Landscaping designed and built this with dimension cut flagstone mortared to a new patio. One of the main points was to incorporate an outdoor kitchen into the patio. The BBQ station is large enough to entertain while cooking up some nice steaks. The counter top is a custom and unique smooth concrete top found in many high-end homes today. The entire kitchen was coated in tan stucco to match the house’s exterior. This space is fantastic for entertaining family and guests.
